SOLUTION
Driver Assistance Programme (DAP) aids the driver at power braking situations. The signal can be a buzzer or a display / voice message depending on the braking conditions/speed of the vehicle, etc.
Here are some examples how it could work on a slippery road while braking. Head up display / Voice:
- "Power braking - poor deceleration - avoid collision"
- "BAS connected - steer"
For example, on a slippery road a crash with a car in front could very often be avoided by helping the driver to seize the steering option in case of power braking. Therefore this immediate command e.g. "steer" when the emergency function becomes activated would help to avoid fatal collisions or reduce damages.
- Brake system controls the brake force
- ESP system controls the car position
- Driver controls the car direction by steering
DAP creates confidence to the brakes and releases the driver to concentrate on steering.
